Summons are magical spells that allows a summoner to call for a mythical monster to provide aid in a battle. Summons are damaging as most of them does damage to multiple target. Although it costs more MP than black magic, Summons are really useful especially for tough battles such as boss fights. Summon magic does more damage than black magic except that it takes a longer time to charge. Summons cannot be reflected by Wall.

In the game, only Rydia is allowed to use Summon Magic.

Optional Summons
In my opinion, these optional summons are better than the summons that Rydia has learnt via the storyline. The game's best summon is Bahamut. Leviathan is another good attacking summon as compared to other elemental summons. But getting these summons is not an easy task. The Sylphs does damage to one enemy by draining HP and distributes the absorb HP to your party.
