About the Colosseum
The Colosseum resembles a lot like the Battling Arena in Final Fantasy VII. The Colosseum features an unique system that allows you to use item as a bet for another item and the in-process of defeating the enemy. The Colosseum is only available in World of Ruins. It is situated north off Locke's hometown of Kohlingen. The Colosseum features some of the game's toughest opponents. For most battles, in FF6, is easy to beat them with a party of 4 but in Colosseum, you are going to fight one-on-one.

Getting Started
...
Apparently, you just need to talk to the guard at the main gate. You will need to talk to the guard at the middle to begin the battle. Within the Colosseum, you will find some old friends such as Ultros (that octopus) and his friend, Chupon. Avoid betting items that obtained via purchase as you will face a near-impossible task against Chupon, who use Sneeze to blow your character away. Like the rarer the item is used for wager, the higher the chances that you can get a better item. Within the Colosseum, there is a inn that allow you to rest for free. Make preparations for one character, make sure he/she is completely healed. Once you are done, talk to the guard and pick with pleasure.

You will be shown a screen similar to the one on the left. The left item indicates the item that you will be winning by defeating the opponent, while the top right item indicates the item that you will be betting. The rules are simple. Win the battle and you will get the item (from the opponent). If you lose the battle, there will be no gameovers but your item will be taken away as you have lost your bet! If a special battle against Chupon, he sneezes your member away, the battle just ends automatically!

Select a challenger. You are only entitled to use one character for the battle. When fighting in the Colosseum, you cannot gain any new skills, experience points, magic points. Your character's HP/MP will be unaffected. I recommend you to save your game regular or you might miss some of the game's most valuable items!

Getting Shadow

During World of Balance at the Floating Island, if you have wait for Shadow, you will be able to do the following quest. At World of Ruins, after you have get admittance to Cave in Veldt, you will find Shadow and his dog laying unconsicious. Save him by defeating the boss and you will be heading for Thamasa. Now pilot your airship to Colosseum. You will find that Shadow is looking for a weapon called "Striker" which is found in Cave of Veldt. Use it as a bet and have your character to fight against Shadow! Beat him and he will joins your party!

In fact, the item used for wager, the opponent and item won are fixed. Just simply look up at our bestiary and look for the items, equipment, weapon that are you looking for. Look for it under "Getting It" column and check out any Colosseum features.

More about the Colosseum
Thanks to our former staff member, Yashiro. I have confirmed myself that the battles at the Colosseum are computer-controlled. There is also another thing about the Colosseum. Whenever you bet an item at Colosseum, even if you win the matchup you cannot get the item that you have wager for it! Unless you bet for another item to get it or steal from enemies.

We will be adding additional/special coverage about Colosseum in the future. Check it out soon!
