Background

Strago, one of the last great blue mages, resides with Relm in Thamasa, where he has lived all of his life. His favorite past times is hunting monsters, especially the Hidon. Strago and Relm come into play when the Returners visit Thamasa and find that there is a fire in Strago's house and Relm is trapped inside. After the Returners save Relm, Strago joins the Returners.

Skill - Lore
Every character has his/her own unique set of special attacks known as "Skills". Some of them requires the character to equip weapons or accessories to function, while others depend on the experience levels of the character. Some characters have a single skill ability while others have multiple ones. Lores are the returning Blue Magic from Final Fantasy 5 or Enemy Skill in Final Fantasy 7. Strago learns it when he experiences the skill while in battles. He does not need to be hit by the skill. Lores can also be learn from Gau's Rage... There are a total of 24 Lores in Final Fantasy VI. Lores requires MP to cast as Strago is considered as a magic user.

Lore
Lores affects a variety of effects from status ailments effect, support effect or offense. There are a total of 24 Lores in Final Fantasy 6. To learn new Lore, you must bring Strago in a battle and hope that encountered monster uses that Lore skill. You can speed up the learning process with Relm's Control or Gau's Rage and use that Lore in the battle. Strago begins the game with 3 Lores learnt - Stone, Revenge and AquaRake. The table below shows the list of Lores that Strago could learn...

Magic
Final Fantasy VI has an unique magic learning system, which is also known as Esper System. To acquired new Magic, your characters need to search for new Espers, which these will turn into Magicite. The characters could inherit the Esper's Magic as long they are summoned in battles. At the end of the battle, your characters could gained Magic Points [which works like Ability Points]. Most magic arrives from power of Magicites, jewels that allows you to summon Esper. For more details, please refer to our Magic Section.

Critical Attack - Sabre Soul
Sabre Soul
Occasionally, a character could use a special attack - known as Critical Attack, when they are under a Critical status such as having a low HP. Under Critical status, there is a possibility of Strago using the Sabre Soul when using the Attack command. Strago jumps at the enemy and drains away the soul of the enemy, killing them instantly.
