About the list
The card list features the entire card listing in the game. These cards are arranged accordingly to card levels. The card lists also shows a graphical image of the cards along with its attributes and elementals (if applicable).

Getting/ Collecting Cards
In Final Fantasy VIII, there are a lot of methods to obtain cards. The most common method is to beat another card player for the cards. You can also win cards from Boss fights, which are usually rare cards or from random battles, where most of these cards are categorized under Page 1 to Page 5. The exception is the PuPu Card.

In the game, the cards are classified into 4 groups. They are: MONSTER, BOSS, GF and CHARACTER. GF and CHARACTER cards are considered rare cards. Monster Cards can be obtained by defeating the specific monster itself. However, PuPu's card [a level 5 card] is an exception one. Refer to the Side Quests section for more details.

Boss cards can be obtained only via [Card] command or by defeating other card players. In the game, some of the regular monsters carries two types of cards: a card of itself and a BOSS card. 1 out of 10 chances, you can win the boss card from defeating that monster. To have a higher percentage, use the [Card] command. You need to injure the monster severely until it has around 5% of HP left, before you can convert into a card using [Card]. The [Card] command is available from GF Quezacotl or you can use a Gambler Spirit to allow a GF to learn it.

Card Refinement
In Final Fantasy VIII, Squall and his friends could refine useless items in useful items via refinement abilities of GFs. Refinement abilities ends with a "RF" and can be further classified into two general types - item refinement and magic refinement. Squall can also refine the cards into items. Card Refinining is an example of Item Refinement. The better the card is, the better items you can refine from it. There is also a refinement ratio. For example, a Geezard card will refine into 1x Screw. The ratio is 1:1. For cards such as Malboro, you need 10x such cards before you can refine into a Malboro Tentacle.

In other words, collecting cards is as good as collecting rare items. Below is the cards listing. The cards are arranged accordingly to pages or levels.
