Exploring Deling City
I supposed that it would be better to explore the city since
you got the chance to visit here. Below features paragraphs
on parts of the town:
1. Deling Fountain
This area is actually near to the train staton. Within the
area, you can find 2 bus attendants. The left path leads to
the Caraway's Mansion while the right path leads to a deserted
corner. The path heading north leads to the street where you
can find Galbadia Hotel.
2. Park west off the Mnasion
In this area, you will find a Galbadia Soldier near the pathway
heading right. The park is separated from the mansion an isolated
road. The left path leads to the Gateway. There is a Draw
Point found here -
Thundara.
In the next screen, you can find another 2 bus attendants.
The north path leads to the Deling City Station whereas the
south route leads to President's Residence. You need to head
here to report the password...
3. Shopping Arcade
This is a busy street filled with shopping mores. On the right
side of the road, you will find the junk shop [yellow signboard]
and item shop [orange signboard]. Remember to buy some ammo
for Irvine, as an upcoming Boss fight which comprises him
as a compulsory member is coming soon...
4. The Gateway
The most significant part of Deling is the huge clock tower.
There is a 3-way junction in front of the tower. The right
path leads the isolated park lane, which eventually leads
to the mansion. The north path leads to the President's Residence
and the south path leads to the compound and a small park
that leads the mansion.
5. President's Residence
There are 2 bus attendants within the vicinity and south of
the screen is the President's mansion. Here are the directions:
- North Path: It will lead to the gateway
- Right Path: It leads to the General Caraway's Mansion.
- West Path: It leads to the Shopping Arcade
6. Galbadia Hotel Street
You can find the Galbadia Hotel where Julia used to perform
here. The dance hall located at the basement has not been
closed. You can find a Save Point nearby. Pay 100 gil and
you can get a Timber Maniacs, that is located near the bed
inside the room.
From the rent-a-car shop, make your way up to deserted junction.
From there, just head right. Talk to the train attendant and
board a bus back to the mansion. Now talk to the guard and
tell him your password. If your password is 016, enter the
password in this order - 6, 1, 0. If you have entered the
pin correctly, Squall will be allow to pass and meet with
the general. In front of the high-polished mansion, you can
find a Save Point here. Save your game.
Inside the mansion, talk to Rinoa. She will talk to Squall
for a while and exit the living room. Shorlty, the General,
whose name is Caraway, will enter and self introduces himself
to the SeeD cadets. If Rinoa is in your party, she will leave
your party temporarily and you will need to re-organize. From
the conversation, you will find out that Caraway is Rinoa's
father. The general feels that the mission is too dangerous
for his daughter and objects Rinoa from taking part in it.
Next, Squall and his friends will be taking a tour around
Deling. Caraway will give a short briefing for Squall and
a breakdown of the plan. After the briefing, the group will
be divided into two teams:
Gateway Team:
This team will enter the Gateway and shut the gates of the
Gateway to trap the Sorceress inside the tower when time hits
at 2000 hrs sharp. They will need to take action before the
parade begins. The party will be lead Quistis with Zell and
Selphie as her assistant.
Sniper Team:
This team is supposed to seek inside the President's mansion
during the parade and head inside the hatch. The hatch will
reveal an underground tunnel that leads to the carousel clock.
Irvine will be the sniper and will target the sorceress from
that spot. When the clock tower hits 20:00, it is time for
a BANG! Irvine and Squall will be part of the sniper team.
Eventually, Squall and his friends will be left at the Gateway,
where they will be left to do their necessary preparations
for the upcoming uphill task. Seize the opportunity to explore
the town. Once you are done, return back to the mansion. Your
group will be split into 2 teams. Squall and Irvine will be
leaving the mansion along with the General.
Next, you will be controlling Quistis and company. Try to
exit from the mansion and they will meet up with Rinoa. Rinoa
told her that she has find a item that said to be able to
limit the Sorceress' magical powers and it is the Odine Bangle..
Quistis did not believe this sort of thing and blames the
latter for being silly and avoid getting involved in this
matter
The screen will switch back to Squall and company. The streets
has became crowded as there is a huge event taking place in
the Palace. Follow Caraway and make your way pass the crowd
until Squall has reached the President's Residence. Use the
empty pathways on the left side of the street where you can
find the Gateway.
The screen will switch back to Quistis who will be at the
Gateway. Quistis feels that she was a bit too harsh to Rinoa
and wants to apologize. Besides there are still sufficient
time to make an apology before the celebration parade begins.
As you see, the Deling citizens are welcoming the ambassador,
the Sorceress whose name is
Edea.
Return back to the mansion that is located right from the
Gateway. At Caraway's Mansion, you will have a cutscene of
a quarrel between Caraway and his daughter. Caraway is trying
to prevent Rinoa from participating in this mission and intends
to lock his daughter up. Rinoa will leave the mansion and
do the things that she wants to do... Meanwhile, Quistis and
her party comes back and found that the door was locked!
At the President's Residence...
You will get to use Rinoa. There is a Save Point on the left.
Near the truck, there is a gray manhole, which is located
lower right end of the screen. Examine it and you will be
given a prompt. Choose to go down. In the sewers, choose to
move left thrice and Rinoa will find a golden booklet, which
is the
Weapon Mon May.
Make your way back to the truck. Move Rinoa near the crate
and press

.
Keep on climbing until you reach the 2nd floor of the palace.
From there, proceed left. In next area, proceed to the ladder
located on the left side of the building. Now proceed to the
rooftop and Rinoa will reach the balcony of the palace. There
is a chair that is located in front of Rinoa. Move near it
and and you will get a cutscene of Rinoa being manipulated
by Sorceress' magical powers. This is followed by an introduction
CGI.
The Sorceress (Edea) addresses the crowd for a while and right
in front of citizen, she killed President Deling with a blow!
Irvine spotted Rinoa and questions Squall why Rinoa is up
there? To demonstrate her poweress, Edea summons two monsters
to attack Rinoa!
Now, the guys need to act fast or Rinoa will be killed! But
it turns out that the gate has not opened yet. Next, Quistis
and her company will be finding a way to escape so that they
can do their part for the mission. Examine the painting that
is on the right wall.
Proceed left and you will find a statue that resembles
the girl on the wall. Move Quistis towards the top-left
hand corner of the screen. She will be standing in front
of the statue of a girl. Get a glass from the cabinetm found
next to the statue and press
to place it on the statue. This will reveal a trap door!
Enter the trap door and make your way down to the basement.
There is a Save Point here.
To climb onto ladders, press
to examine it and use the D-Pad to move. Junction GFs for
the trio. Move down the pathway through the ladder. Walk
across the wooden platform. Next to it, you will find a
rotating gear. Position Quistis next to the rotatory gear
and hit
,
Quistis and her company will be able to reach the other
side of the basement by making of the gears to reach to
the other side of the path. Make your way towards north
and you will have another CGI, the parade has started!
Controlling Squall, quickly make your way into President's
Residence. You will be able to move during intervals of
the CGI. Just simply follow Irvine and you will be able
to reach into the building in now time. Equip Irvine and
Squall with GFs since everything will be reset. Give one
of them the [Draw] command. Now, climb up the crates, following
Rinoa's suit. Use the Save Point if necessary.
After Squall has reached the rooftop, move towards the center
of the building. Make your way towards the door! Along the
way, you will find the body of the dead President. In the
next area, you will find a hatch that is located on the
right hand side of the red carpet. Ignore it for the time
being and proceed south. At the room, you will see an unarmed
Rinoa being attacked by those two monsters. Squall and Irvine
will come to Rinoa's rescue!

For this battle,
only Squall and Irvine are usable. Summon all GFs to
dish out damage. Do not summon Ifrit. When a character
is low on HP, draw-and-cast Cure. Watch out for the
boss' Magma Breath, which could petrifies one of the
characters into stone. Before the character is petrified,
there will be a countdown of 20. Once it reaches zero,
your character will be petrified. To fix with that status
disorder, draw-and-cast Esuna. Do not forget to draw
Carbuncle from either one of the Iguions. For the case
of Irvine, his Limit Breaks are only usable if you have
some Ammo in your stock. Summoning Brothers with the
"Boost" support is ideal solution as the boss
has weakness against earth elemental. Hopefully that
Squall has stocked up sufficient Double spells to provide
effective healing.

After defeating the 'statues', Squall will help Rinoa back
to her feet. Rinoa is scared and keeps on hanging onto Squall's
sleeve. She is extremely terrified after the incident and
her attitude towards Squall has changed too. Exit from the
room and return back to the area where you find the hatch.
Examine the hatch and Squall have reached the destination,
where the General has told Squall to go. Examine the rifle
that is located on the left of entrance and you will have
a short event. Irvine takes the rifle and sits in a corner.
Well, here is a piece of bad news: Irvine is shivering with
fear!
Deling City Sewers
This portions of the sewers is complex and confusing. Below
are some tips to guide you to locate the exit:
1. You can move across rotating gears, by using the

button. The gears will be turning in either
clockwise clockwise or anti-clockwise direction.
If you want to cross the gear from left to right,
find a gear that is moving clockwise.
2. There are only three Draw Points found here.
. Esuna
- It is located near a gear and you need to knocked off a
ladder to access it.
. Zombie
- it requires you to go to the other side of the pathway
. Bio
- it is located southeast from the Zombie draw point plus
it is hidden.
3. Not all doors in the sewers can be opened.
4. If you cannot proceed further, then you are on the wrong
track.
5. Creeps can drop either a Corel Fragment or Curse Spike,
which allows Quistis to acquire new
Blue Magic - Electrocute or LV? Death.
At the beginning, you find that Quistis can only walk along
the path on the left. Your objective is reached the pathway
that is on the other side. Towards the end of this area, you
should be able to find a Save Point near a ladder. Climb up
that ladder.
Quistis will reach an area with a door. Press

at the ladder, pick the first option and you will reach the
area where you will find a small window. Zell will look through
the hole and followed by a short CGI, the clock has hit 2000
hrs! Examine the switch located on the left and hit

.
You will get a cool CGI. Squall will try to persuade Irvine
to take the shot. Irvine's shot was right on the dot, but
the Sorceress had spotted it. You will be brought to the main
menu. Equip all GFs on Squall, Rinoa and Irvine before pressing

to exit.
This will be followed by an awesome CGI of Squall heading
to face to face with Sorceress. Soon, Squall will meet someone
there - it's Seifer. Seifer challenges Squall on a battle...
It's payback time for the scar caused by Seifer!

For this battle,
you are only entitled to use Squall. Seifer is a weak
version of a boss. Once you are low on HP, just draw-and-cast
Cure from Seifer. It is possible to defeat Seifer by
summoning a GF. Seize this opportunity of stock up Life
magic, if you haven't done it in your battles against
Sacred while at the Tomb. You will win nothing if you
come out victorious.

However shortly, you find both Rinoa and Irvine joins in Squall
to battle Edea.

Edea has the
ability to cast damaging magic spells such as Firaga
and Blizzaga. Her magic does around 300+ damage to a
characetr. Draw some magic from her and use it for your
own use.
Use normal attacks, Limit Breaks or GFs to dish out
damage. There is an easy way of defeating her. First
of all, make sure that your party is being healed to
full health and then summon Carbuncle. All magic spells
cast by Edea wll be reflected back to herself. If Edea
do not cast any magic, she will be wasting her turns
in casting Dispel to remove off the Reflect status for
every single party member.
Seize this opportunity to summon GFs. If you have the
Reflect status, and want to restore your lost HP, use
Potions. Cast Double on two members to provide effective
healing, if you are not using Carbuncle for this fight.
Try to stock up Double in the process, make sure you
have someone with [Item], as his/her fourth command
just in case that you need to have curative items to
regain lost HP
