Back at the Orphanage and a new beginning
Disc 3 kicks off with Squall lying on his bed at the dormitory,
while worrying about Rinoa's condition. Make yoru way to the
infirmary and visit the medical room. Rinoa has been unconscious
since the fight against Edea. Shortly, Squall receives a message
from Quistis through the telecommunications, Edea wants to
meet Squall.
Before heading for the orphanage, make your way to the Training
Center with Squall prepared. Enter it via the left door. You
will find that the pile of pipes are gone. Search that area
for an item and you can get the
Weapon
Monthly Jul.
Exit the Garden via the Central or bridge. You need to head
for the World Map. Save your game. I recommend you to
start collecting the character's ultimate weapons now if you
have not start to do so. Once on the world map, make your
way to Edea's House or Orphanage. It is a building that is
in white and has a lighthouse that you cannot enter in Disc
2. Inside the building, Squall will be meet up with his friends
except for Rinoa. Proceed north and enter the house.
At the first screen, there will be a golden booklet item near
on the ground and that is a Timber Maniacs. This is last Timber
Maniacs that you can get in the game. In the same screen,
you can find two doorways. One of them is blocked off by Cid.
Ignore him for the time being and make your way towards the
door facing north. In the storage room, there is another Draw
Point -
Curaga. Return
back to the previous area and talk to Cid. Proceed right again
and you will meet Edea along with her husband.
Before you actually start to talk to Edea, challenge her to
a card game and try to win
Edea's
Card. Getting her card is really tough, as Centra
region card rules will be starting off with a combination
of several card rules. This is probably the second toughest
card region other than Esthar. The game rules includes the
RANDOM rule. You will be given a breakdown on how Edea has
been possessed by a sorceress from the future and what this
sorceress is looking for.
Talk to Edea for aorund 4 times. After finished talking with
Edea, try to exit and Squall will be called back by Edea and
his friends. Squall will be back to the bridge of Balamb Garden.
Make your way to the Infirmary. You will be shown the Switch
screen between the current and dream party. Select 2 party
members that are currently with Squall as the appropriate
assignees for Ward and Kiros.

Ward's
Appearance in Dream Sequence #4
Ward may not be usable for this Dream Sequence as
it is affected by your actions. If you have visited
the Shumi Tribe at Winter Island, the scenario will
end up you having
only Laguna and Kiros.
This will only be applicable if you have obtained
the Timber Maniacs at Shumi Tribe in Disc 2 or before
you start off this Dream Sequence. The boss fight
will be a lot tougher as your party will comprises
of Laguna and Kiros only...
|
You will find Mr. Journalist along with his friend(s), Kiros
(and Ward) on top of a mountain hill. They are going for an
act as actors for their expenses to Esthar which is in southern
region. After a short conversation, they come with up their
plans and you will brought to a new screen with Laguna dressing
as a knight...
Surprisingly, he is using a gunblade as his weapon.
You will find a couple of amusing cutscenes and Laguna will
meet up with a real Ruby Dragon. Eventually, it will allow
you to play a mini-game.
Mini-Game
- Dragon Slaying
Knock out the Dragon before it burns up Laguna!
Strike |
Defend |
It is really amusing to see Laguna using Seifer's stance
for this mini-game. Similar to the mingame earlier,
Laguna will be forced to take up some damage from his
opposition that results his HP to be depleted with 10%.
First of all, take a defensive stand by holding down
.
Strike the dragon with
after the latter has attacked Laguna. The dragon takes
a long to recuperate before it can start to attack again.
Strikes only when the iron is hot!
If you lose this mini-game, you can resume it by picking
the first options. |
After the battle, Laguna will flee for his life as it is impossible
to beat the dragon with a prop! Laguna was trapped but his
friends come his rescue and gives him his weapon. However,
they find something a miss as they hestitates before they
decide to attack the dragon...
[1] Not yet!!! I done for it...
[2] RUN!!!

You need to junction GFs for Kiros (and Ward)!
Pick "RUN" option and Laguna and his company
are on a mountain path that leads to the peak of the canyon.
There will be random encounter battles. There is a Save
Point. Save your game. You can choose to go up the cliff
to take a breather but you will eventually need to come
down to fight the Dragon as it is blocking your way. Challenge
the Dragon unless you do not have sufficient spells such
as Curaga stocked up.
If you do not have it, fight a Mesmerize and draw up Curaga
and Life. Get a couple of Meltdowns too. It is essential for
your future boss fights. Return to the exit of canyon and
challenge the Dragon! Have 100x Blizzaga to Elem-Atk-J for
all your characters

At LV 28, Ruby
Dragon has already 18,468 HP. This means that it will
going to have a huge set of hit points when it reaches
level 100. Indeed, Ruby Dragons are the toughest non-boss
enemy that you can encounter. You can stock more valuable
spells when it is at a higher level.
Whatever attacking magic you can draw from the boss
is useless against it. Start of the battle cast Meltdown
on it followed by summoning GF Diablos. Diablos will
do 9999 HP against enemies with HP more than 9999. Next
summon GF Shiva along with Alexander to attack the boss'
elemental weakness. There is no much difference with/without
Ward for this boss fight.
To defend against the boss' physical/non-elemental attacks
(includes Breath), cast Protect on your allies to reduce
the damage by half. |

This is followed by a couple of nice cutscenes of Laguna and
his friend(s) viewing the scenery of Trabia Canyon.
