Upgrading Materials List
Gathering materials that are needed for upgrading weapons
is probably the hardiest and most time consuming procedure.
Materials are generally obtained via defeating the enemy
that could drop the item or you can choose to mug it. For
some of the items, you will find there are two monsters.
We have listed the enemy that has the higher chance of droping
the item.
. They are arranged accordingly to alphabetical order.

To get the items listed above, you need to have the following

Rare
Item
Rare Item is an ability that increases occurence of better
items won upon defeating an enemy. Rare Item applies to only
non boss fights. Rare Items increases the chances of winning
items
and reduces the occurence of
items. It will allows you to win better items.
Mug
Mug is a character ability and not command ability in Final
Fantasy VIII. Upon equipping Mug on an ability slot, it will
replaces the Attack command with Mug. Mug allows your character
to attack and steal items. When an enemy is mugged, you will
not be able to obtain items that you will normally won from
the enemy.
M E N U A B I L I T I E S
Familiar
GF Tonberry's set of menu abilities (Haggle, Sell High, Familiar
and Call Item Shop) is crucially important in Disc 4. This
is mainly due to the reason that you will not be able to access
the shops due to the barriers surrounding the cities. Familiar
allows you to buy better GF ability items such as HypnoCrown,
Force Armlet etc. It allows you to purchase rare items such
as all
Weapon Monthly manuals, all Combat
Kings, all Pet Pals Issue, etc. You can even buy Elixirs,
Mega Phoenix, Mega Potion
etc!
Ammo-RF
Ammo-RF ability is an ability that allows you to refine items
into ammo. Ammo-RF is only available for learning after you
have mastered its perquisite - F Mag-RF. Ammo-RF allows you
to get better ammo for Irvine and the best ammo, Pulse Ammo
is used in upgrading Squall's gunblade to the Lion Heart.
Card
Mod-RF
Quezacotl's Card Mod-RF is really useful if you have problems
in getting any of the items. Card Mod-RF is an extremely important
ability if you do not have the Pocketstation as it is the
second easiest method to get items other than playing the
